The Department

The Village of Eagle Police Department was “officially” founded in 1978 by a group of citizens that wanted personalized policing in their small community. Prior to that time, and as far back as the year 1947, Eagle did have a police chief that worked out of his home, using his own vehicles for patrol. He was the only employee and his schedule was sporadic.

The location of the police department was somewhat transient over the years and has moved a number of times. This was primarily due to a steady increase in the Village’s population and the need for the police department to answer that growth.

The Village of Eagle opened the doors to its new Police Department in December of 2008 at the location of 121 E. Main Street, seen in the photograph above. Twelve years prior to that move, the department was located in the Eagle Municipal building in an office area of just 400 square feet. Today the new department offers the busy staff nearly 800 square feet of office space and the addition of separate quarters for the administrative officer, an interview room, records storage and a squad-room office which houses workspace for officers and front line supervisors.

The downtown location provides enhanced visibility of the station for the benefit of citizens and visitors alike, and also allows officers expediency in responding to any location in the Village.
